Sustaining Pennsylvania's Forests

Serving the interests of the people of Pennsylvania through the sustainable management of Pennsylvania's forests.

Statement of Purpose
The Pennsylvania Council of Professional Foresters (PCPF) has as its purpose an ongoing concern for the profession of forestry.  It will provide to the public an awareness of the science, the applicability of professional forestry and the responsibilities of forestry professional.  The PCPF will act as the focal point for matters of a forestry nature through its office and staff.

Specifically  it will:

  1. Create an entity to enhance the public awareness of the profession of forestry to better recognize the impact of forestry on society's health, safety and welfare through the utilization and development of forest resources in a manner that will sustain and enhance Pennsylvania forest resources.
  2. Promote the use of forestry and emphasize its attendant benefits.  It should be recognized that use or applicability has two foci: Identify those areas where forestry should be brought to bear and ensure that the conduct of forestry, including the presentation of results, is performed by Professional Foresters.
  3. Ensure that the body of foresters performing in Pennsylvania are responsible to their respective clients and to society at large.
